Step 1: Sign in to Google Analytics

  • Visit the Google Analytics website.
  • Sign in using your Google account.
  • If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to create one.

Step 2: Create a New Account

  • In your Google Analytics dashboard, click on “Admin”.
  • Under the “Account” column, click “+ Create Account.”
  • Follow the prompts to set up a new account.

Step 3: Set up a Property

  • After creating an account, you’ll need to set up a property.
  • Click on “+ Create Property” and enter your website details.
  • Choose “Web” as the platform.

Step 4: Configure Data Streams

  • In the property settings, click on “Data Streams” and then “Add stream.”
  • Select the platform (Web, iOS app, Android app) for your data stream.
  • For web, enter your website URL and stream name.

Step 5: Install Tracking Code

  • After setting up a data stream, you’ll receive a unique tracking code.
  • Install this code on your website’s header section.
  • This allows Google Analytics to start collecting data.

Step 6: Verify Installation

  • Verify the installation of your tracking code.
  • Use the “Realtime” report in Google Analytics to see if data is being collected.
  • Check for active users on your site.

Step 7: Explore Reports

  • Familiarize yourself with various reports available in GA4.
  • Check reports like “User,” “Engagement,” “Monetization,” and “Retention.”
  • Customize your dashboard as needed.

Step 8: Set Up Goals and Conversions

  • Set up goals to track specific user actions on your site.
  • In GA4, these are referred to as “conversions.”
  • Define events that you consider conversions.
